Unstuffed Cabbage
1 large head cabbage, chopped
1 lb. ground beef
1 cup raw rice
1 large onion, chopped
1 T chopped garlic
1 can tomato sauce
2 No. 2 1/2 cans tomatoes, chopped
Juice of 2 lemons
1 t. salt
1/4 t. pepper
1 large can sauerkraut (drained)
1 cup brown sugar
The hamburger is sauted with onion, garlic, salt and pepper, brown sugar and simmered with and tomatoes.
Alternate layers of cabbage, rice, sauerkraut and meat sauce and bake at 350 for 1 1/2 hr.
